"Namako-kabe" is one of the traditional Japanese wall-painting styles used in storehouses, where the white of the plaster intersects with the black of the flat roof tiles. In this method, flat tiles are laid side by side on the wall, and plaster is applied to the joints of the tiles in a kamaboko-shaped pattern. The name "kamaboko-shaped plaster" comes from the fact that the joints resemble sea cucumbers.
