A new color joins Kamawanu’s “Neko no Obuya” tenugui for 2025.

A refreshing yellow-green combination inspired by sweet osmanthus flowers, the herald of autumn. The soft hues evoke the gentle fragrance of blossoms drifting through the crisp autumn air.

This tenugui draws inspiration from the Edo-era ukiyo-e “Neko no Obuya”—a playful print depicting human-like cats enjoying a public bath. The humorous scene brings a touch of wit and warmth, making it a delightful gift for both cat lovers and fans of Japanese art.

Tradition Meets Craftsmanship

Each tenugui is hand-dyed by craftsmen using the traditional CHUSEN technique, which creates beautiful gradations of color unique to this process.

Specially Crafted Tenugui Fabric

Our tenugui are made from cloth specially crafted for everyday use. Soft, absorbent, and smooth, they become even more comfortable to use over time.

Enjoy Tenugui Fading

Our tenugui are hand-dyed with a generous amount of dye. With each wash, excess dye gradually comes off, and the colors evolve slowly. How you use and wash your tenugui will affect its fading, so enjoy watching it change over time.
