The pattern of this tenugui is modeled after the overcoat of the woman in Reflective Love, the most famous of artist Kitagawa Utamaro’s head-and-shoulders paintings of beautiful women. It combines an auspicious “plover” motif, closely associated with good luck, with the lattice pattern beloved by the common people of Edo.
Our Tenugui towel are dyed by hand by craftsmen using a dyeing technique called CHUSEN.
