A new 2025 design.

This tenugui features a design inspired by the “Haniwa Horse.” Haniwa are clay figurines of people and animals that were placed around tombs during Japan’s Kofun period (3rd–6th century). The horse is depicted in warm, light brown tones with auspicious red accents and is dyed using the traditional chusen technique. Surrounding plum blossoms add a cozy atmosphere while symbolizing good fortune.
With their charming and whimsical shapes, haniwa have recently regained popularity in Japan, and this design brings that playful spirit into everyday life. It is also perfect as a celebratory motif for the Year of the Horse, which is part of the 12-year zodiac cycle.

Tradition Meets Craftsmanship

Each tenugui is hand-dyed by craftsmen using the traditional CHUSEN technique, which creates beautiful gradations of color unique to this process.
