This issue features “summer pattern tenugui” to enjoy the hot summer! We Japanese know how to spend hot and humid summer days comfortably. Please feel the tips from the patterns of the tenugui towel.

Lotus Flower

The lotus flower is famous for its dignified beauty, which blooms coolly. It is also widely known as a flower of good luck because it grows only in mud and blooms as a giant flower. When displayed in a room, the cool, refreshing coloring will create a relaxed atmosphere in the hot summer.

Blueberry

Fresh blueberries, which are in season from early summer to summer, are dyed in cool shades. The rolling berries are rhythmical.

Lemon Soda

The summer carbonated drinks "lemon soda" and "lemon squash" inspired the design. This is a refreshing piece dyed in a slightly bitter lemon color.

Beer

Summer in Japan is all about ice-cold beer. Pouring Dyeing's gradation-dyeing technique was used to express the delicious beer, right down to the foam, using the tenugui towel as a mug glass. It can be used as a drink cover, hung around the neck, or laid on a table, making it useful for summer leisure activities. It is also recommended that canned beer be wrapped in eco-friendly wrapping.

Sunflower

Sunflower

It is a small pattern of sunflowers clad in a retro atmosphere. We recommend using it as a hair bandana or wrapping it around the handle of a basket bag.

Japanese Banana

The "Japanese banana" (basho), long famous in summer kimono designs, is depicted in a design similar to an aloha shirt. It is cool to the eye and recommended for use in fashion and interior design.

Hydrangea Purple and Blue

In Japan, colorful hydrangeas can be seen everywhere in June. When the hydrangeas are at their best, the "rainy season" arrives in Japan. The hydrangea, which is very familiar to us Japanese, is dyed in blue and purple using the "Bokashi Dyeing" technique.

Blue Autumn Leaves

Clear streams and blue autumn leaves create a fantastic summer scene. It can be enjoyed from early summer to late summer, and we recommend decorating it as an interior decoration or laying it on a dining table. These tenugui towels go well with Japanese tableware and sake cups.

Penguin

The design features family penguins playing freely around an iceberg. The color of the ice brings a relaxed feeling and eases the summer heat. This design is recommended for outside leisure activities such as swimming pools and the beach.

Ice Cream

Ice cream, which has a nostalgic feel like something you would find on the menu of a Japanese coffee shop, is now available in a refreshing summery border pattern. This design brings a sense of coolness and fun to the hot summer.

Half-eaten Watermelon

Watermelon is a typical summer food in Japan. The freshness of watermelon is expressed by using Pouring Dyeing's unique " blending dyeing" technique.

Goldfish

Goldfish have been popular as ornaments since the Edo period. Goldfish, which brings quantity, is believed to be a motif for improving one's luck in money, and it is said that decorating one's entrance will make one rich.
