A new 2025 design.

Before the full chill of winter arrives, this tenugui brings to life traditional Japanese winter scenes featuring the playful rabbits and frogs of the Choju-Giga (Scrolls of Frolicking Animals). It depicts preparations for winter, such as yukitsuri — the traditional method of supporting tree branches with ropes to protect them from heavy snow — and rice-cake pounding, as well as activities like skating and snow play.
You can also enjoy delightful traditional winter depictions of building snowmen, sledding, and relaxing in a kotatsu — a low table covered with a blanket and heated underneath — inside a snow hut.
Using four colors — gray, green, red, and light blue — artisans carefully capture the crisp, serene atmosphere of the season. Display it in your home to effortlessly bring the spirit of winter indoors.

Tradition Meets Craftsmanship

Each tenugui is hand-dyed by craftsmen using the traditional CHUSEN technique, which creates beautiful gradations of color unique to this process.

Specially Crafted Tenugui Fabric

Our tenugui are made from cloth specially crafted for everyday use. Soft, absorbent, and smooth, they become even more comfortable to use over time.

Enjoy Tenugui Fading

Our tenugui are hand-dyed with a generous amount of dye. With each wash, excess dye gradually comes off, and the colors evolve slowly. How you use and wash your tenugui will affect its fading, so enjoy watching it change over time.
