    Maru-Ishi

This tenugui captures the curves of river stones and the beautiful spaces that form between them. With a design that is both modern and rustic, it works beautifully as a decorative piece laid out at home or as a stylish accent to carry with you.

    Size & Features

A standard tenugui measures approximately 90 cm × 33 cm (35 in × 13 in). Unlike Western-style towels, the edges are left unhemmed, allowing the fabric to dry quickly and stay lightweight.

    Tradition Meets Craftsmanship

Each tenugui is hand-dyed by craftsmen using the traditional CHUSEN technique, which creates beautiful gradations of color unique to this process.

    How to Use

Tenugui are an essential part of everyday life in Japan — used for wiping hands, wrapping gifts, or decorating a space. Each piece carries the warmth of craftsmanship and the beauty of imperfection that comes with hand-dyeing. Want to know more? Check out some creative ways to use your tenugui here.

    Specially Crafted Tenugui Fabric

Our tenugui are made from cloth specially crafted for everyday use. Carefully woven in Japan, they are soft, absorbent, and smooth, becoming even more comfortable to use over time.

    Enjoy Tenugui Fading

Our tenugui are hand-dyed with a generous amount of dye. With each wash, excess dye gradually comes off, and the colors evolve slowly. How you use and wash your tenugui will affect its fading, so enjoy watching it change over time.
