Inspired by cherry blossoms in full bloom, this tenugui is covered edge-to-edge with a finely detailed sakura pattern reminiscent of traditional chiyogami paper (decorative Japanese paper traditionally used for origami). The name Chiyo means “for a thousand generations,” expressing a wish for long-lasting prosperity and making this a truly elegant and celebratory piece. It enhances the sense of excitement and anticipation while waiting for the cherry blossoms to bloom.
The small, all-over pattern makes it especially versatile—perfect for placing on the dining table or using as a wrapping cloth.
Recommended for:
Those who love refined, serene cherry blossom designs
Those drawn to patterns that evoke the beauty of origami and traditional paper crafts

Tradition Meets Craftsmanship

Each tenugui is hand-dyed by craftsmen using the traditional CHUSEN technique, which creates beautiful gradations of color unique to this process.

How to Use

Tenugui are an essential part of everyday life in Japan — used for wiping hands, wrapping gifts, or decorating a space. Each piece carries the warmth of craftsmanship and the beauty of imperfection that comes with hand-dyeing. Want to know more? Check out some creative ways to use your tenugui here.

Specially Crafted Tenugui Fabric

Our tenugui are made from cloth specially crafted for everyday use. Soft, absorbent, and smooth, they become even more comfortable to use over time.

Enjoy Tenugui Fading

Our tenugui are hand-dyed with a generous amount of dye. With each wash, excess dye gradually comes off, and the colors evolve slowly. How you use and wash your tenugui will affect its fading, so enjoy watching it change over time.
