Our Sensu (Japanese folding fans) help to keep you cool on hot days, anytime and anywhere. They are a comfortable handheld size and fold compactly, making them convenient to carry around without taking up much space in your bag. Sensu, which were born in Japan, have changed along with the times, from wooden ones to paper, through to today with cool fabric attached.
Our Mangetsu Sensu are hand-dyed on thin cotton fabric with bright and summery motifs. They have a cute, soft-rounded shape that can easily be used as a fashion accent . Using the attached storage bag is an excellent way to avoid damage and keep your Sensu in good condition. We recommend our Mangetsu Sensu Sets as a refreshing summer gift for birthdays, commemoration days, and the like.
Summer flowers such as dayflowers and bellflowers are expressed in a calico style with an oriental feel. The purplish-red color and unique Western-style pattern also make it an ideal gift for people from overseas.

Product Notes

Tenugui are one-size-fits-all. Due to the nature of the dyeing process and handmade techniques, slight variations in size, color, or pattern may occur. Returns, exchanges, or refunds cannot be accepted for these natural variations.

Shipping Details

  • Shipping Fees: $25 standard shipping (limited-time offer until the end of December). Free for orders over $100. Extra charges may apply for remote areas.
  • Shipping Method & Estimated Delivery Time: Orders are shipped within five business days (excluding weekends and Japanese holidays). Delivery takes 3–7 business days. Express shipping is not available.

We accept returns or exchanges only for defective or incorrect items.

Please contact us at contact@kamawanu.com within 8 days of receiving your order and include:

  • Order number
  • Name
  • Reason for return/exchange
  • Photos showing the issue

After reviewing your request, we will inform you of the next steps.

Please note, we cannot accept returns or exchanges if:

  • The item was not purchased from kamawanu.com
  • More than 8 days have passed since delivery.
  • The item has been used, damaged, or altered.

The reason is a personal preference (wrong item, different image, etc.).

Laundry & Care

Tenugui (Hand-Dyed Cloths)

Each piece is dyed using the traditional chusen technique.

  • Hand wash separately before first use, as colors may bleed.
  • Do not use chlorine or oxygen bleach.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Hang to dry in the shade.
  • Fraying at the edges is a natural characteristic of tenugui.

    Simply trim loose threads to create a natural fringe. Fraying will stop at about 1 cm (0.4 inch).

Bandanas & Small Furoshiki

These items are hand-printed using traditional stencil dyeing techniques.

  • Hand wash gently in cold water.
  • Do not use chlorine or oxygen bleach.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Hang to dry in the shade.
  • Iron at a maximum temperature of 160°C.
  • Do not dry clean.
