This tenugui features an immensely cute design based on the puppies on the cover of the Edo-era epic masterpiece Nanso Satomi Hakkenden (the story of eight dog samurai and a princess of the Satomi family in the Nanso region). 
This is an epic novel spanning a total of 98 volumes spread over 106 books, which took author Kyokutei Bakin 29 years to write.
The puppies are characterized by their soft lines and innocent expressions. Looking at them naturally soothes the soul. The covers and endpapers of the first edition showcased a rich variation of 20 unique designs, all based on the motif of dogs. We incorporated one of these historic designs into this tenugui pattern.

Our Tenugui towel are dyed by hand by craftsmen using a dyeing technique called CHUSEN.
